London began. Cats in the Mouser’s Union refused to kill any
rats until their catnip allowance was increased.)
1:22 PM: Told Lucky all about
Snowball insisting I make friends with Killer. He said that
someone as clever as me should be able to convince a stupid
ruffian like Killer that it would be better if we were friends.
It’s not often that Lucky says anything sensible but for once
he’s right.
11:30 PM: My humans have been out all
evening. I have been sitting on my favorite chair having very
clever intellectual thoughts. It’s good being intelligent; it’s
such a comfort in times of adversity.
I ran through the ‘times-table’ I learned as
a kitten:
One tail is one.
Two ears are two.
Three mice are tasty.
Four paws are four.
Five dogs are deadly.
I couldn’t remember much after that.
