Met Lucky today.
“What’s nothing?” I asked.
He replied, “Something that has no existence.
Something that has no quantitative value. Mathematically, a
value that indicates that an object variable is no longer
associated with any actual object. Used as an adjective, it
refers to something which is insignificant or worthless. In
other languages it’s, rien, nada, niente and nichts. Or, in
other words, naught, nullity, obliteration, oblivion, void,
zero, zilch, zip, zippo, zot . . . “
Lucky can be so dumb at times!
Lucky’s parrot is unbearable! She claims that
Long John Silver was once her human and they sailed to Treasure
Island on a ship named Hispaniola. She says that for fun they
would attack other ships, steal the valuables and make the ship
cats walk the plank. In a voice that is irritating beyond
description she kept squawking,
“Aye, aye, me hearties.
We made Adrian walk ze plank.
Shiver me timbers, splish, splash,
Down to Devil’s Flea-pit ze dumb cat sank.”
I hate that parrot!!
